Calendario del hortelano (septiembre)

En el presente curso las tareas del Huerto están más adelantadas y van a un ritmo mayor, debido a la puesta en marcha del proyecto europeo COMENIUS “The School Garden” en el cuál participamos.
La primera labor desarrollada ha consistido en descargar de ramaje los árboles integrados en el mismo, al objeto de que las hortalizas de temporada tengan el sol suficiente para poder realizar la fotosíntesis.
Un segundo paso ha consistido en reponer las plantas aromáticas que habían sucumbido durante el verano, como el incienso, la menta, laurel, hierba buena,…
Seguidamente se labró, para una vez hecho, aparcelarla, siguiendo el modelo de años anteriores de 2x2 m más otro, un poco mayor, de riego por goteo.
La aceleración en las plantas de temporada ha sido posible, ya que se han adquirido en zonas más al Norte de nuestra Región, pues el vivero de La Puebla, el más cercano al Centro, no empieza a sacar plantones (plantas pequeñas) al mercado hasta el 5 de octubre.
Igualmente con motivo de la visita de las cámaras del Canal 7 a nuestro Centro, hicimos una plantación de apio, generosamente donada por una cuadrilla de temporeros de la agricultura (sudamericanos y magrebíes) que se encontraban trabajando en las inmediaciones del colegio.
El mes de septiembre ha sido muy caluroso, igual que los primeros días de octubre, con lo cual estamos regando más de lo habitual, pues tampoco llueve y las plantas por las tardes, muestran un aspecto muy triste, acusando su estrés hídrico.
Quinto, sexto y varias clases de infantil han sembrado cereales: trigo, cebada, maíz y garbanzos y los mayores bulbos: ajos y cebollas, así como ajos tiernos y cebollas tiernas.
In the present year the tasks of the Garden have been anticipated and performed earlier, due to the starting in March of the European project COMENIUS "The School Garden " in which we take part.
The first labor was performed in the woodland zone with trees and has consisted of unloading the foliage of trees, pruning, so that the vegetables of season have the sufficient sun to be able to realize the photosynthesis.
The second step has consisted of replacing the dried fragrant plants that succumbed during the summer, as the incense, the mint, laurel …
Then we worked the land, dividing it in plots, following the previous year pattern: plots of 2 by 2 meters, adding one more a bit bigger for the irrigation by drip.The acceleration on cultivation of plants of season has been possible, since they have been acquired in zones further from our place, up to the north of our Region. The closest nursery plants Center (located in La Puebla), that usually supplies our garden does not start trading with this kind of small plants until October the 5th.
Because of the visit of Channel 7 TV to our School, we performed a plantation of celery, generously donated by a squad of temporary of the agriculture (South American and Maghrebian) that were employed at the surrounding areas of the school.
The month of September has been very warm, like the first days of October, with which we are watering more of the habitual thing, since it does not rain and the plants in the evenings either, show a very sad aspect, accusing with excessive interest, its water stress.
The fifth, sixth forms and several kindergarten classes have sowed cereals: wheat, barley, corn and chick-peas and the bigger pupils bulbs: garlic and onions as well as leeks and green onions.
