Calendario del hortelano (noviembre)

Edit Post
Autumn, climatologically speaking has not answered to the expectations since it has not rained at all, and in addition there have been two strong wind episodes which have forced us, not only to water weekly, but even more, to act in order not to lose the small plants severely punished by the blizzards.
The temperatures have not gone down, and therefore there has hastened the process of leaf lettuces, forcing to cutting them without the due ripeness, for the well-known risk that they were coming to form ear, and to lose the entire plot. (The pupils and teachers noticed the stronger flavor the day that was served at lunch time, because it was sufficiently closed and therefore it made the photosynthesis to full performance.
The tasks of maintenance, they have been fundamentally of weeding. The growth of weeds meets favored by the absence of cold, which would stop them.
It is worth to mention, the appearance of a plague of voracious caterpillars (black bug) that are giving good account of the cabbages, and curiously also they have attacked the red cabbages of harder and resistant texture, since it is a variety obtained in the laboratory. (We attack them for the natural procedure of killing them, but we do not manage to stop them. I asked Miguel the caretaker for help in order to get sulfur from his father who could facilitate it to us. We deposited it on the leaves. Later we eliminated the sulfur simply washing them).
Kindergarten groups have finished the sowing with a plot of alfalfa. Primary groups has continued planting: cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, radishes, beans, peas, celery, thistles, spinach beets, carrots and spinach.
Observation note, we emphasize, that the peas have born after the third sowing, the camomile and the carrots have not managed to be born and therefore we have changed the plots for radishes and spinach.
The birds continue giving good account of the lettuces newly planted (succulent food for their palate and the snails proliferate in excess, since we continue being the unique plot with vegetables in the surroundings.
